On the occasion of Science Day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded Oles Dobosevych, Dean of UCU’s Applied Sciences Faculty, with the order For Service, 3rd degree.

The presidential decree states that the award for researchers is given “for a significant personal contribution to the development of Ukrainian learning, strengthening Ukraine’s scientific and technical potential in wartime conditions, many years of dedicated work, and a high level of professionalism.”
“Ukrainian engineers, inventors, researchers, and scholars today are the driving force of our technological strength. Thanks to your intelligence and daily work, Ukraine finds effective responses to the most difficult challenges. We thank all who are improving Ukraine’s technology and defending life through innovations. One of the key tasks of our government and business is to support this tempo of development on all levels,” noted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his greeting for Science Day.
On behalf of the whole university community, we congratulate Oles Dobosevych for this honor. We thank him for his leadership, developing the faculty, and supporting the student and research community.
We recall that for the third year in a row, UCU has been rated “Best IT University” according to DOU (developers.org.ua).
Oles Dobosevych has headed the Applied Sciences Faculty since 2023. He has a Master’s in Mathematics and is co-founder of the UCU Machine Learning Laboratory. He has more than 10 years of experience in IT (Java, Python, Android), including managing start-up projects.
From the moment of the opening of UCU’s Bachelor’s Program in Computer Sciences in 2015, Oles has been a leading staff member of UCU’s Applied Sciences Faculty. Together with his team, he has been directly involved with the faculty’s rapid development. In 2015, the Applied Sciences Faculty had only one bachelor’s program, with 40 students. Today this structure has three bachelor’s programs, a master’s program in Data Science, and a doctoral program in Intelligent Systems.
Oles Dobosevych’s scholarly interests focus on machine learning, data engineering, and computer vision. His research and articles co-authored with students and scholars of the faculty are regularly presented at the most prestigious conferences on computer vision (CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, WACV). As part of UCU’s Machine Learning Laboratory, Oles Dobosevych also oversees student research connected with the development of projects in the use of AI in medicine.
Oles Dobosevych studied at Ivan Franko National University in Lviv, majoring in Mathematics. He has a master’s degree in Mathematics, specializing in differential equations.
