Joining the Senate of the Ukrainian Catholic University are Kateryna Zagoriy, co-founder of the Zagoriy Foundation, and Lidiya Bilas, co-founder and managing partner of the Creative International Children’s School.
The Senate of the Ukrainian Catholic University (Supervisory Board) is the fully-authorized governing structure of the university, which determines the basic principles and directions of its strategic development and makes decisions on the most important questions of its activity. In particular, it elects the rector, fosters the engagement of financial resources to ensure UCU’s activities, decides on the opening of new programs and faculties, and confirms the budget and the construction of the university’s infrastructure.

“I sincerely admire the Ukrainian Catholic University and the environment that it has created around itself,” said Zagoriy. “Its library, campus, and other premises distinguish it from all others. For me, joining the UCU Senate is a great challenge and responsibility which I am ready to take on. I joyfully join in helping in the area of fundraising and I believe that we will surpass the new financial goal set for 2025. In this way we will help UCU become larger and stronger among other universities.”

“This university,” said Bilas, “motivates and inspires me to also develop my own educational business, inasmuch as we are involved in the education of children and private schools. I truly hope that we will raise a generation and school graduates who will be worthy applicants to UCU. It is a great honor for me to be a senator of the Ukrainian Catholic University. I feel trust and a challenge at the same time, because it’s not easy to be in the middle of such a strong community. Like other senators, I want to become an active part of this team.”

Greeting the new senators, UCU Rector Fr. Bohdan Prach emphasized: “We dream boldly, and our 2025 vision for the university demonstrates this. And we are ready to dare this pilgrimage only with a full understanding that our senators will support us in implementing an incredible task: conducting a global fundraising campaign for the university’s development. Strengthening the Senate with experts like Kateryna Zagoriy and Lidiya Bilas will give us confidence in our plans and dreams. We are grateful that they have agreed to join the UCU community and taken upon themselves the responsible mission of the Senate. We believe that their experience will be a great benefit for our university and that the UCU community will be for the new senators a center of hospitality and a source of inspiration.”
