Myroslav Marynovych, Vice-Rector for University Mission of the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU) and noted human rights defender and former dissident, spoke at Chicago’s Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art on Sunday September 19.
He spoke for an hour, followed by questions and answers, moderated by UCEF representative Serge Michaluk. The attendance at the event was strong, with a diverse community of various ages. The audience truly took his story to heart. Afterwards, he signed copies of his book, “The Universe Behind Barbed Wire: Memoirs of a Ukrainian Soviet Dissident.” This is a new English-language translation of the text.
UCEF is grateful to the Ukrainian Museum of Modern Art for hosting the event.
